Center for professional development

We train working professionals, one practiced skill at a time.

SkillWill is a not-for-profit center for professional development. We run cohort training for teams and individuals across digital communications, web development, project management, and enterprise IT. Our instructors do this work for a living.

Why we exist

Learning first.
Always.

Most professional training is shaped to fit a quarter, not a craft. We were started by practitioners who wanted the opposite — cohorts small enough to give real feedback, curriculum that gets edited every term, and instructors who still ship work in the field they teach.

We are a not-for-profit. Tuition pays for instructors, materials, and the room. There are no shareholders to satisfy and no upsell at the end. If a program is not landing, we change it. If a participant needs more time, we make room.

Training portfolios

Two portfolios. Same standard of instruction.

One built for organizations training their teams. One built for individuals investing in their own practice. Pick a side; flip whenever you like.

Programs designed for teams of 8 to 30, delivered in-house or hybrid. We scope with your team lead, agree on what good looks like, and run a cohort that ends with artefacts you can keep using.

Cohort training for marketing, comms, and product teams who need their writing, briefs, and campaigns to actually land.

What you leave with

  • A shared editorial standard your team writes to, not around
  • Stakeholder briefs that get approved on the first pass
  • A measurement habit tied to objectives, not vanity metrics

6 weeks · weekly live workshops · in-house or hybrid

Hands-on training for in-house engineering teams — modern frontend foundations, code review discipline, and reliable shipping.

What you leave with

  • Working patterns the whole team agrees on, written down
  • Pull requests reviewed in hours, not days
  • A clear path from prototype to production for new hires

8 weeks · code labs and pair sessions · led by working engineers

PMI-aligned training for project leads and program managers, with the planning artefacts they will actually use after the course ends.

What you leave with

  • Charters and plans that survive contact with the project
  • Risk registers your sponsors read and act on
  • PMP / CAPM exam readiness for the people who want it

10 weeks · evening sessions · cohort capped at 18

Workshops for IT teams managing Microsoft and AWS estates — identity, productivity, and cost controls without breaking what works.

What you leave with

  • An identity baseline you can defend to an auditor
  • Lower monthly cloud spend with the reasons written down
  • Runbooks the on-call rotation actually opens

4 weeks · workshop format · per-platform tracks available

Partners we train toward

We train alongside the platforms our participants will use at work.

Our project management curriculum aligns with PMI guidance. Our IT tracks use Microsoft and AWS as the working environment. These are partners, not endorsements — we teach the platforms our participants meet on Monday morning.
